The diverter valve section serves as the foundation for this element. One device that is unique to combi boilers is the diverter valve. It makes it possible to direct hot water either into the home hot water system (taps, etc.) or towards the central heating (radiators, etc.). This characteristic is what sets a combi boiler apart from a regular boiler because a combi boiler doesn’t need a cylinder to heat and produce hot water.
